If you’re reading this, welcome to The Tamiya Journey Journal.

This is my first blog post, and hopefully the first of many, because I wanted a place to document this hobby that somehow took over my life in the span of a month.

Tamiya Mini 4WD. Or as most people probably know them…

“Those tiny cars with the rollers on the side?”

Believe it or not, they’re still very much alive.

In fact, after getting into the hobby, I found out there’s a huge community behind it. There are race tracks, hobby shops, weekend races, national tournaments, and even international competitions in places like Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and right here in the Philippines.

I don’t think I’ve felt this excited about a hobby since I started making music back in 2017.

They’re completely different hobbies, but they scratch the same itch. You start with nothing, spend a couple of hours figuring things out, and by the end you’ve made something you’re genuinely proud of.

The more I learned, the more I realized these aren’t just toys from the ’90s.

Every chassis has its own engineering philosophy.

Every body has its own history.

Every kit teaches you something new.

I honestly thought I was just buying a toy.

Instead, I accidentally stumbled into a hobby full of engineering, creativity, history, and a really welcoming community.

So that’s what this journal is.

It’s not a racing blog.

It’s not a tuning guide.

I’m definitely not an expert.

This is simply my journey as someone who’s discovering Mini 4WD one build at a time.

I’ll be sharing every car I build, what I learned, the mistakes I make, the people I meet, and the little moments that make me appreciate this hobby even more.

Maybe one day I’ll look back at these entries and laugh at how little I knew.

Or maybe someone who’s just getting into the hobby will read this and think,

“Huh… maybe I should pick up a kit too.”

Either way, I’m glad you’re here.
